The idea of Web 2.0 became notable after the first O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004. During that conference O'Reilly Media brainstormed the concept of Web 2.0 and what it means, here is an example: | Web 1.0 | | Web 2.0 | | DoubleClick | --> | Google AdSense | | Ofoto | --> | Flickr | | Akamai | --> | BitTorrent | | mp3.com | --> | Napster | | Britannica Online | --> | Wikipedia | | personal websites | --> | blogging | | evite | --> | upcoming.org and EVDB | | domain name speculation | --> | search engine optimization | | page views | --> | cost per click | | screen scraping | --> | web services | | publishing | --> | participation | | content management systems | --> | wikis | | directories (taxonomy) | --> | tagging ("folksonomy") | | stickiness | --> | syndication | Quoting from O'Reilly Media:"Like many important concepts, Web 2.0 doesn't have a hard boundary, but rather, a gravitational core. You can visualize Web 2.0 as a set of principles and practices that tie together a veritable solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core." You can find more details about Web 2.0 on O'Reilly Media and Wikipedia. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 162 |

Thanks to dailyblogtips.com for this informative article: One of the most important decisions that youll will make when starting a new blog is choosing a topic or subject. You have the option of choosing a highly-competitive and crowded market, or you can select a niche with fewer existing blogs. Too many new bloggers dont realize how much this decision will impact them down the road. Lets take a look at some of the pros and cons of blogging in a smaller niche. Pros: 1. Less Competition. The most obvious advantage to being in a niche is that youll have less competition. Youll have less competition for traffic, for product sales, for affiliate product sales and whatever else you do. 2. Easier to Get Visitors to Subscribe. In more competitive niches your visitors may already be subscribed to a number of other blogs on your topic. In this case its difficult to encourage them to add more reading to their routine. You really have to show how valuable your can be for them. But if you are blogging in a small niche your visitors may not be subscribed to any blogs of your kind. If they are interested in the subject theyre much more likely to subscribe. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 191 |
